2020 Hindsight

As we look back on 2020, none of us could have foreseen what was coming. Our vision for 2020 was full of onsite consulting engagements, customer visits and tradeshows. All of that changed quickly in March. With the last-minute cancellation of the 2020 Annual HIMSS Conference, the reality of the virus quickly set in. Months of planning, flights and hotels were all cancelled.

As a small company, we can be flexible and move quickly. We were able to make a swift transition to fully working remotely. Although it was not what was planned, in hindsight, it worked!

Now more than ever it is exciting, and important, to review the year and our accomplishments despite the adversity. Here are a few of our 2020 highlights:

New Software – Softek engineering did not skip a beat. On average, they released two new versions of our Panther software each month, which included four major new revenue cycle features:

  • Charge Reconciliation
  • Form Integrity
  • Payor Report Card
  • Physician Documentation

Welcomed New Clients – Demos and consulting engagements switched to Microsoft Teams and business continued. Instead of logging miles, our consultants logged screen time. As a result, we grew our client family with several new subscriptions and consulting clients.

Celebrated our 25th Anniversary – In a time of uncertainty, it was particularly sweet to celebrate Softek’s 25th Anniversary in late October. We especially recognize our founder David Fletcher and all of the associates and clients who have been a part of the journey.

KLAS Recognition – Softek was recognized as the 2020 KLAS Category Leader for Revenue Cycle Optimization. The year ended on a high note with the special publication of a KLAS Spotlight as requested by our clients. We thank all of those who provided input for this review.

We realize 2020 was an incredibly challenging year for our clients, who were hit especially hard by the COVID-19 crisis. We are ready and available to assist our clients through these challenges in any way we can.

Moving forward into 2021, we have plans for new development and to continue helping our clients get the most from their Cerner system. We will have to start with the virtual alterations in place, but we can do so confidently with the benefit of the hindsight of a successful 2020. There is a glimpse of something more normal on the horizon. We look forward to being together again in this new year!
